KukuriZaru, Sarubobo, tied up monkey
This round shaped amulet, just like a flower buds, is called Kukuri-zaru, tied up monkey.
This small object is drew in some Japanese traditional paintings like Hokusai and Ukiyoe.
A "monkey" is "SARU" in Japanese, which is same sound as "(go)away" . So this talisman is for keeping you away from unluckiness and or evils.
Also, when you write "monkey" in Chinese character, it is pronounced as "En" as well as "saru". En leads "Go-En" , linking to good connections, good relations to lucks and happiness.
And go is same sound as 5 (five) , so we often see them of five pieces in a chain.
